INDECENT LANGUAGE.
IMMIGRANT FINED. NEW ARRIVAL'S BAD START. Henry Jamieson, a middle- lged man, described as a labourer and a native of Ireland, appeared before Mr J L. Stout, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court this morning on charges of having used indecent language on the railway platform yesterday and of having been drunk. Accused, who had arrived in the Dominion by the Corinthio on Thursdiy, pleaded guilty to both charges, stating that he had been very sick on tne way outturn that he had given away to drink on hu arrival. Senior-Sergeant (TGrady sated that accused, when travelling from Wellington, had used very bad language, with the result that the guard had put .him off the train at Palmerston North. His flow of language had still continued on the platform, and he had been arrested. Accused asked that he he treated leniently, saying that he would not commit any more breaches. ~ . , “You are making a bad star , said the Magistrate. “You .will be convicted and fined ss, in default 24 hours’ for drunkness, and £2, in default seven days , for using indecent language.’’
