CORONIAL INQUIRY. (From Our Own Correspondent). A coronial inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the doath of Mr William Francis Edwards, who was found dead in his whare, at Marotiri on Tuesday morning, was held -in the Courthouse Wednesday afternoon before Mr Alf. Fraser, cyroner. Redwood Francis Bowe, farmer, Marotiri, in evidence, said that he had known deceased fpr five years, 110 was employed casually on his father’s farm and lived in a house on the farm by himself. During the last few months he appeared to bo getting very feeble and a fortnight before his death had complained of a cold. Medicine had been given deceased for his cold and witness last saw him alivo on Saturday evening, when ho met witness’s car and received his stores. Witness visited deceased’s whare on Tuesday morning and found him dead in bed.

Dr. Wyllie, medical practitioner, said that from tho general appearance of the body it was consistent with death from heart failure, and in view of tho history of the case he considered death was duo to failure of a senile heart, probably accelerated by the recent severe cold. The verdict was in accordance with tho medical evidenco. PLUNKET SOCIETY.

At the annual meeting of the Plunket Society Mrs F. Robinson presided over a good attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from the Mayor and Mayoress and Mesdames Walton, Chryslall, Rowley and A. Baker. A motion of sympathy with Mrs W. F. Massey and family in their irreparable loss, and regret that the Dominion has lost such a great lender and statesman wa3 passed, members standing in silence. The annual report congratulated the society on its financial position. They had started the year with a credit balance of £3O 8s lid, and expenses during the year amounted to £55 19s. After meeting all liabilities to date, the credit balance wns £34 8s 6d. Tho r.urse visited Foxton 46 times this year as against 52 tho previous year. This made the total number of visitors to the office less than it would have been. It should bo approximately 1160. The president in speaking of the balancesheet, said the expenses this year were higher than in the previous year. Expenses such as new scales would not have to be met again. The financial statement showed they had met all liabilities and had enough in hand to meet the half year’s salary and rent, due this month. After this was paid they would still have a credit balance of £ll. At a later meeting they would have to consider ways and means of raising money to carry them through tho next year. Tho nurse’s monthly report shows that the work was indreasijig. Mrfe Robinson thanked the committee for loyal support during the year. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The following were elected officers * and committee for tho incoming year:—President, Mrs F. Robinson; vice-presidents, Mesdames W. Walton, Austin-Johnston and F. McDonald; hon. secretary, Airs R. McMurray; committee, Aiesdames Pearson, A. Ross, J. Chrystall, S. Austin, W. Trueman, R. Ilynes, D. Christie, F. Rimmer, J. M. Barr, R. Owen, F. Proctor, Downes, A. Baker and' Ileasman. Messrs M. E. Perreau and R. Bryant were elected hoti. members.

A meeting of the committee was held at the conclusion of the annual meeting, when accounts amounting to £24 4s were passed for payment. Nurso Hughes’ report showed visits to Foxton 5, to homes 13, adults to office 74, children 91; total of 165. New cases 4. Mesdames Downes and AlcDonald were appointed visitors for the month and Mrs Barr flower steward. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting. Airs F. Robinson afterwards entertained the committeo at afternoon tea.

Alessrs Ilartland (assistant district traffic manager), McNeil (commercial agent), Cameron (district traffic manager), AlcNair (district engineer of the railway department), were in Foxton this week on official business.
