FAMOUS- NOVELIST’S END

Received May 15, 8.55 a.ni. LONDON, May 14. The death has occurred of Sir Rider Haggard, the well-known novelist, aged 63 years.

The late Sir Rider Haggard was an authority on Empire migration and oil Imperial, agricultural and social conditions. He had travelled over the world as. a member of the Dominion Itoya Commission, and * n 1916. visited all the Overseas Dominions as honorary representative of the Royal Colonial Institute in connection with the afterwar settlement of ex-service men. The best known of his many novels, perhaps, are: Solomons Mines, “Allan Quartermain,” “She,” “Ayesha, or the Return of She,” and in 1921, “She and Allan.”
