Vernon, who was found guilty of causing the death of a youth named Dent, at Melbourne, was sentenced to twelve years’ hard labour. The Turco-Grecian dispute has been settled, King Constantine consenting to abdicate after an agreement has been signed. At a meeting of the Grand Fascist Council in Rome it was reported that Fascist movements existed in 40 countries. The Commonwealth Statistician re-, ports that the total value of Australian oversea trade for 1923-24 amounted to £260,618,293 and exports to £199,847,164, an increase on the previous year. . The Australian tennis player, J. O. Anderson, has sailed for England. He will participate in the • Wimbledon championships prior to his departure for America, where lie takes part in the Davis Cup play. The New States Commission has completed its report. It is understood the majority of the commission is not in favour of tho creation of any new States in Australia.
A London paper devoted to finance publishes details of an agreement between an Edinburgh company and a company in Australia for the formation of an Australian company to manufacture rubber footwear in the Commonwealth. The capital invested is £500,000.
