BUTTER MARKET QUIET. CHEESE REPORTED EASIER. Tho Department of Agriculture has received tho following cablegram dated tho 28th March, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London, giving quotations as on that date: Butter: The demand is quiet. New Zealand, finest salted (slow), 168 s to 172 s per cwt. (Is 6d to Is 6jd per lb.); unsalted, 182 sto 184 s yer cwt. (Is 7jd per lb.); other qualities, 150 s to 160 s per ewt. (Is 4id to Is 5Jd per lb). Australian (steady), salted, 166 s to 168 s per cwt. (Is 53d to Is 6d per lb.); unsalted, 178 sto 182 s per cwt. (Is 7d to Is 7id per lb.) : other qualities, 154 sto 164 s per cwt. (Is 4jd to Is sjd per lb). Argentine (slow). 166 s to 172 s per cwt. (Is 53d to Is 6id per lb.): other qualities, 160 s to 164 s per cwt. (Is sid to Is 5Jd per lb). Danish, 216 s to 218 s per cwt. (Is lid per lb). Cheese. —Tho demand is quiet, and tho market easier. English, finest farmers, (firm), 135 s to 140 s per cwt. (Is 2id to Is 3d per lb). Canadian, coloured 106 sto 110 s per cwt (11 Ad to lljd per lb); white, 108 sto 110 s per cwt. (113 d per lb). Now Zealand, coloured and white, 100 s to 102 s per cwt. to lid per lb). Australian, coloured (quiet), 98s to 100 a per cwt (10jd to 103 d per lb). Shipments of New Zealand produce arrived this week per Waiwera and Baradine. llomp.—Manila was inactive during this week, but closed firmer with sales of “J” grade March-May shipments £sl 10s. New Zealand market continues quiet with small business reported ufloat and in dock at £39 for highpoints and £37 for fair. Forward position no demand. Wool.—The Bradford market is quiet and little new business is being done. At the close there were indications of more activity in Merino, but crossbred is neglected. Present quotations aro:—64’s (Merino) warp 5s 3d, 64’s (Merino) average 5s Id, 56’s (super halfbred) 3s 6d, 40’s prepared (coarse crossbred) 2s 6d. Oats. —The market is dull and English is plentiful. White is quoted at: Seed 34s per 3361b5; feed 295. No. 2 Canadian western April shipment offered at 28s 6d. Nominal value New Zealand “A” spot 30s to 325; “B” 29s to 30s; for shipment le per quarter less. Tallow. —The spot market is quiet hut there is fair demand at auction. No torward business is reported. Present quotations are the same as last week except mutton fino 48s per cwt, fair to good 45s 6d to 475; beef, sweet and mixed, 46a. Eggs.—The demand is slow and the market quiet. English, Danish and Dutch 12s 9d to 15s 6d per long 100; Irish, Belgian and Italian 12s io 12a 9d; Styrion, Polish and Russian 10s 3d to 11s 3d.
