A ROCKEFELLER WEDS.
CARNEGIE’S GRAND-NIECE
FATHER’S FORTUNE OF £90,000,000.
The engagement was announced recently of Mr James Stillwell Rockefeller, grandson of Mr John D. Rockefeller) and Miss Nancy G. S. Carnegie, grand-niece of the late Mr Andrew Carnegie. Mr J. D. Rockefeller, senior, who long held the distinction of being the richest man in the world, now is said to be outdone in that respect by MiHenry Ford. A story, however, gained currency a few months ago that the rise in Standard oil stock since the presidential election added some £20,000,000 to Rockefeller’s fortune, which has been estimated at something like £222,000,000. His son, the bridegroom’s father, is credited with the possession of Standard oil stock with a market value of £90,000,000. Accounts are at variance as to the total amounts given by the two multimillionaires in the cause of philanthropy. Carnegie’s amount has been given at about £44,000,000, and that of Rockefeller, senior, at a sum approaching £100,000.000.
