CARETAKER’S HOUSE BURNS.
MELBOURNE, March 17. Tbe railway caretaker’s residence at Newport was totally destroyed by fire yesterday. There was a hope of saving a portion of the residence:, but a train came along, and the fire hoses, which were across the line, had to be disconnected.
