OPENING OF SEASON. MIXED FOURSOMES. With a record number of players competing, the Manawatu Golf Ulub opened tho season on Saturday afternoon with mixed foursomes. Competition was keen and many good cards were returned. The winners proved to he Miss MacMillan and 11. Knight, who went round in 68, and, with their handicap off, their score was reduced to 61. The best curd was returned by the scratch pair, G. J. Moore and Alias Moore, who accomplished the round in 67. During the afternoon tho committee was entertained at tea by the president, Air I*’. J. Nathan, Mrs J. 11. Whyte acting .as hostess in the unavoidable absence of Mrs Nathan. Tha trophies which the president had donated were then presented to the winners by Airs Whyte. A beautiful silver rose bowl, which has been present’d to the ladies’ club by Alisses Nita und Gwenda MoHardy, was on view in tho clubhouse.
