POCKET AEROPLANE
GOULBURN MECHANIC'S WORK. STOWED IN MOTOR GARAGE. GOULBURN,' Jan. 24. George Murray, a young carpenter, and a clever mechanic* has almost completed an aeroplane which seems to be the nearest approach to a machine which can be stowed in a motor garage, and still be large enough to carry a pilot comfortably over the country at 65 miles an hour. The 'plane is a single-seater, driven by al6 h.p". twin cyclinder engine. It measures 14ft. 3in in length, and has a span from wing tip to wing tip of 19ft 6in. When ready for garaging, the wings fold back along the fuselage, and the machine then measures 6ft. in width. Its weight, including engine pilot, and three hours' fuel, will total 3851 b. The estimated speed is 65 miles. Mr Murray has been at work on the machine for some months, doing everything in his spare time, from his own specifications. He hopes to have no difficulty in securing permission for a trial flight next month. He had hoped to enter the 'plane for the recent contest, and claims that his machine is the only one which would have fulfilled all requirements.
