LOWER WOOL PRICES

SALES HELD AT NAPIER. Per Press Association. NAPIER, Dec. 10. ' At tho second Napier wool sales which were continued this morning, the decline manifested at the opening last night was again apparent. American competition was not in evidence to anything like tho degree shown at tho last sales. Bradford buyers took most of tho crossbred wools at prices generally registering a decline of fully 2d jier pound on recent rates. This was counter-balanced somewhat by tho increased prices for coarser classes, but generally speaking the decline was evident over tho whole range. The exact reasons are hard to determine, but obviously' the buyers are now operating under limits much more severe than they wore subject to three weeks ago. At times to-day bidding was singularly spiritless. Crossbred wools, even of good class, seldom realised over 26d and more frequently were in the vicinity of 22d and 23d. Pieces sold up to 163 dor 17d. Lambs’ wool was in demand up to 27d. Tho existing prices, despite tho decline represent a satisfactory return for the producer and very few lots were passed in.
