ACCIDENTS &. FATALITIES.
FOUND DROWNED. AUCKLAND, Dec. 8. The inquest on the body of Joseph Alexander Duncan, who was found drowned at Devonport on November 2, has concluded. Throughout the inquest, which was twice . adjourned, there seemed to be suspicions of foul play, as tho deceased was in possession of a considerable sum of money previous to his death. This idea was not supported by the evidence, and there being no marks of .violence on tlie body the coroner returned a verdict of found drowned.
SCHOOL TEACHER’S DEATH. DUNEDIN, Dec. 8. At the adjourned inquest on the body of Clirisiana Weir,. aged 40, a school teacher, who was found dead in her bedroom on November 23, the evidence showed that no trace of poison was found on an examination, it was elicited further that deceased suffered from epileptic fits which she had kept a secret, even from her father. Tlie coroner stated that this cleared away any suspicion that poison had been taken. He returned a verdict that death was due to respiratory paralysis during an epileptic seizure.
