EMPIRE STATESMEN

PROPOSED CONFERENCE; ’■ AIR BRUCE SUPPORTS AIR MASSEY [By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] Received December 10, 10.40 a.m, AIELBOURNE, Dee. 10. Referring to All* Alassey’s recent statement wherein he expressed agreement with the views of Air Ainery, Secretary of State for the Colonies, that, if Britain expected overseas Ministers to make periodical visits to Eondon in order to consult .British Ministers, the latter should be equally prepared to make journeys overseas and hold, conferences in various parts of the Empire, Air Bruce, the Australian Prime Alinister, said ho cordially welcomed, not only Air Amery’s suggestion, but Air Alassey’s endorsement. He entirely agreed with the opinion that there was an urgent necessity for some arrangement being made whereby more frequent conferences would be held by representatives of the self-go-verning portions of the Empire without it being compulsory for the Prime Ministers of Australia and New Zealand to travel to London. If arrangements could be made for holding’ conferences in different centres of the Empire, it would be quite possible to have more frequent consultations than- }iad been found practicable in the past. He welcomed the suggestion for periodical visits of British Alinisters as it Was only by* doing so that Ilritir.li statesmen could hope to obtain first-hand information on the problems which confronted the different parts ol the Empire.—Press Association.
