NEW DIAMOND FIELD.
RUS'H IN TRANSVAAL.
Received December 2, 11.30 a.m
CAPETOWN, Dee. 1. Much interest has been aroused .by the discovery of apparently rich diamondifirous deposits in the Valley of the Mooi river near Potehefstroom, Transvaal. Hundreds of prospectors are at work. One farm, which was only proclaimed a fortnight ago, is now a township with 1000 inhabitants. Farm homesteads and cattle kraals are hemmed in by claims on which digging is feverishly proceeding. Cafes, garages, shops and stores have already sprung up and a rush is setting in.—A. and N.Z. cable.
