FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

COURT MANAWATU, A.O.F. On Friday evening- Courts Ilinemou, and Manawatu, A.0.F., held a special meeting to welcome tiro. T. Mark, I’.D.G.R., D.T., und 13ro. A. W. O. Travers, D.S. Oyer 100 members of the order were present, including representatives from Courts Anzae, Woodville, Roderick Dhu, Pride of the Leith, Loyal Northland and" Pride of the Plym, Devon, England. C.R. tiro. M. Levy welcomed the distinguished visitors, arid handed to 13ro. '1 ravers his gavel, the emblem of authority. On 13ro. Travers taking the chair ho was accorded the “Foresters’ Fire,” ably led by P.C.R. Bro. A. Pultridge. The District Secretary, upon rising to speak, was received with applause. He gave an interesting account of the financial position of the order, more particularly the Wellington district, complimenting the two local courts on their position, both numerically and financially, 110 hoped that Court Manawatu, during the corning year, would celebrate its jubilee in a fitting manner and be able to show a considerable increase in membership. tiro. The working of the three degrees was fully explained, those present receiving beneficial instruction which, no doubt, will be reflected in the future working of these degrees. At the conclusion of the meeting a social was held, when toasts were honoured and musical items given which were greatly appreciated by all present. The toast list was as follows:—“The King"; “District Executive,” proposed by P.C.R. Bro. J. B. Rosanoski and responded to by P.D.C.R. liro T. Mark, D.T. ; “Court fHiuenioa,” proposed by P.C.R. Bro. Rosanoski and responded to by C.R. Sister Lambert; “Court Manawatu,"’ proposed by Bro. A. W. O. Travers, D.S.. and responded to by P.C.R. Bro. J. Aitcliison ; “Visitors,” proposed by P.C.R. Bro. J. FolliH and responded to by visitors present; “The Press," proposed by P.C.R. Bro. M. Rosanoski and responded to by P.C.R. Bro. J. Snndi on behalf of the press.
