OUTBREAK OF FIRE.
LITTLE DAMAGE DONE. The Fire Brigade received a call at about 9.30 o’clock last night .to ManaWiitu street, where a fire had broken cut in a four-roomed house on Mr H. J 3. Tucker’s farm. It is understood that the occupier, Mr F. Bennett, who is in the employ of Mr Tucker, had left a lamp alight while lie proceeded to a neighbouring house to get into telephonic communication with his wife, who is at present in Napier. By some means or other the lamp must have overturned, with the result that the furnishings of the room caught alight. On the outbreak being discovered, no time was lost in giving the alarm, and, .with the prompt arrival of the brigade, the blaze was quickly subdued, little damage having been done.
