BRISK BIDDING
KEEN DEMAND FOR WOOL. SALE HELD AT CHRISTCHURCH. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 29. Particular interest was taken in the first Christchurch wool sale of the season held to-day. The catalogue was double the size of last season’s opening catalogue, the total number oi bales offered being 11,400. Bidding was keen front the outset and the North Island prices were exceeded twice. The record price for half bred of 40d was paid, the buyer being a Bradford firm. Three-quarter-bred fleece wool made up to 303 d, cross-bred up to2Bd, halfbred pieces up to 30Jd. Over 90 buyers were present and very often the bids rose by a penny and twopence instead of the usual farthing.
Later. Ten hales of good three-quarter-bred realised the record price of 33id. The big price of 42|d was secured for 1(5 bales of half-bred from Pahau pastures, bought by a local mill, and then another lot of three-quarter-bred went for 343 d.
