RETURNED SOLDIERS.

MEETING OP COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the committee of the Returned Soldiers’ Association was held last night, Mr B. J. Jacobs prosiding. Others present wore: Messrs W. C. Harrington, L. Bryant, W. 11. MacMillan, W. A. George, W. G. Rntherfurd, D. Dilks and C. J. Houston.

The chairman stated that, as a result of his negotiations with the Patriotic Society, with reference to the electric light installation at the Soldiers’ Club, a sub-com-mittee had been appointed to go into the matter.

Reference was made to certain moneys held by tho Patriotic Society and in connection with which a proposal was afoot, to transfer them to another avenue of investment. Messrs L. Bryant, J. W. Rutherfurd and W. A. George were appointed to approach tho secretary of tho society and state the views of the association. Mr Dilks and the secretary were deputed to inquire into the question of proposed alterations to the club house. A letter was received from the A. and P. Association requesting that the R.S.A. lend its support to the proposed queen carnival and it was decided that a reply l>e sent intimating that the association regretted its inability to assist.

It was resolved, after some discussion that a ball be held this your, and a sub committee was set up to deal with the arrangements.
