WEDNESDAY COMPETITION. MEN’S TR~IAL MATCH. The ladies’ hockey competition was continued on the Sportsgiound yesterday, while a Possibles versus Probables match for men was also played. Results at a' glance:— H.S.O.G. 8 v. C. and C. 0. Technical 5 v, Central O.G. 0. Possibles 3 v. Probables 3,
In the men’s game Probables took possession and attacked, though they met with considerable opposition. Possibles conceded a corner, but cleared. Probables immediately returned to the irttack and narrowly missed scoring. Possibles then took the offensive and indulged in some tricky play in Probables’ territory, Fitt showing up conspicuously. Shortly afterwards Burgess, for Probables, made a fine shot from beyond half-way, but the forwards, in their haste to follow up, spoilt the effort by offside play. Possibles attacked and Lloyd opened the score. After some fast up and down play Possibles again pressed hard and Fitt netted. Play from this on. was extremely fast and Lundy evened the score by netting twice for Probables. Fitt again scored for Possibles and the game became more exciting as Probables made strenuous attempts to even matters. With a few seconds to full time, Burgess scored for Probables, making the scores three all. Mr C. Aitchison refereed. H.S.O.G. in their match with C. and C. showed themselves much superior in every way and utterly routed their opponents. The following were responsible for the scores: A. Littlejohn (3), M. Waters (3), G. Hands (2), G. Wilton (2). Mr 1. Gerrand refereed. Technical gave a very interesting exhibition in their match with Central Old Girls and showed the result of their training by their combination. Miss M. Gulhrnnson scored one goal and Miss D. Ellis four goals for Technical. Mr Reeves controlled the game.
At a meeting of the Feilding Hockey Association it was decided to write to the Manawatu Association and the Pirates and Rovers Club stating that the Manawatu Association could not play any members of those clubs m their representative games. The fact that these players are engaged in the Palmerston North Wednesday competitions does not entitle the Manawatu Association to play any Feilding members in their representative teams. Further, the consent of the Feilding Association to allow these players m the. Palmerstons is owing to the fact that there is no competition in Feilding on that date. A letter was received troiu the New Zealand Ladies Association stating that the claim for the Pohangina and Ivairanga Counties had been submitted to the Manawatu Association. It was decided to reply that Pohangina was already included in the rules of the association, and further that no claim for Ivairanga had been made by the local association.
