ALLIES’ CONFERENCE
SECOND EDITION
ANTICIPATION OF CRISIS. UNEASINESS EXPRESSED. Received July 24. 11.5 a.m. LONDON, July 23. In anticipation of a crisis at the interAllied conference there was an unusual crowd of sightseers in downing Street today. The principal Allied delegates wero closeted with Air MacDonald and Air Thomas in the Cabinet room this morning. One of the sub-committees lias not completed its labours, and as it expected the holding of a plenary conference will depend on the result of its work, uneasiness at ixissible conference developments is expressed in the French newspapers to-day. It is feared that M. llerriot, while determined not to yield to France s right to isolated action in the event of German default, may accept a compromise, which will simply gild the bitter pill. The Petit Parisien suggests that AI. Horriot will not hesitate to sacrifice tlie forty millions loan rather than permit encroachment of the treaty and the sovereignty of France. — Reuter.
