MANAWATU association. MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the’ executive of the Alanawatu Boxing Association was held last night when there were present: —Messrs H E Bennett (in tho chair), J. Puryes, MV. Randell, T. Richards, G. Watchorn and J L C. Merton (hon. secretary). The Wellington Centre wrote advising that Mr H. E. Bennett had been elected to tho centre executive and further that Mr FI. L. Young had been nominated.as a- momber of the New Zealand executive. Messrs Purvos and Richards were appointed official representatives to supervise the training operations of the boys. An invitation was received from the Napier Association for a challenge team to visit Napier on September 6, and it was decided to accept same, the personnel to be announced lator. The Wellington Centre wroto asking why O’Keefe and Evans had defaulted at tho recent tourney at Hnwcra, and it was resolved that tho explanation tendered by Evans bo accepted, but that O’Keefe be requested to attend a meeting of the association on Wednesday next. PROFESSIONAL FIGHT.

A deputatioit on behalf of Bert Brown, who recently defeated Cann, of Wanganui, at Wellington, waited on the meeting with a request that he be matched with Derry Clinton, tho present feather-weight champion, or any other fighter.—lt was decided to match Brown with Clinton, who at tho Wellington tourney defeated Roy Overend, of Hastings, in a terrific battle, a full account of which appeared in the “Standard” last evening. The fight will be for a purse of £IOO and will in all probability be staged on August 23 or 30. A star programme was drawn up, the tentative preliminaries being :—Walden v. Duggan (Taranaki welter ' champion); Crichton v. Do G’lccne; Potbury (Palmerston North) v. Black (Wellington feather champion); Hunt (light-heavy champion of the centre) v. a Wellington “cruiser” weight.
