BLACKS’ STORY MAY BE TRUE

Received July 24, 10.6 a.m.' BRISBANE, July 24

Ah' John B-. rke, managing d'rocfir of the John Burke Company, the charterers of the vessel Dougins Mnwson, states that shr was loaded with wool, and empty casks, and sheathed with pine. The Douglas Mawson would have been hard to sink. He believe the yessel may have drifted ashore on the territory of the coast of the Gulf of Carpentaria, and consider that the Navy Department should send a vessel to investigate. He says that. Captain Tune was a good seaman. He may have run before the storm and reached the western coast of the gulf, and in that case the story told by the blacks may bo true. A naval search would decide this point definitely.—Press Association.
