MANAWATU ASSOCIATION, FORTNIGHTLY MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. The fortnightly meeting of the Manawatu Football Association’s executive was held last night. Mr J. Young presiding. CORRESPONDENCE. From the Manawatu Rugby Union advising that it had agreed to the association using the Showgrounds on July 30 for the match against the Chinese touring team.—Received.

From the Wanganui Football Association stating that, owing to other arrangements, it could not play a match against Manawatu on a date suggested, but that a game at a later date would be acceptable. —llekl over until after the visit of the Chinese touring team. From the Wellington Football Association advising that a team representing St. Patrick’s College, Wellington, was prepared to play a match against a Palmerston North High School eleven as a cur-tain-raiser to the game against the Chinese here. —It was decided that the beys’ committee and the association secretary make the necessary arrangements. Arrangements concerning the smoke concert to be tendered the Chinese touring team which plays at. Palmerston North on July 30 were discussed, Mr A. F. Wimsett, who has tlie details in hand, reporting what had been done in this connection, lie stated that an excellent musical programme had been arranged, and it was decided to request the wife of the Chinese Consul-General to present the cups donated by the local Chinese. Representatives of local sport« bodies, borough councillor.-, and prominent citizens, it was reported, had been invited, and a total attendance of 200 was expected, including about 50 local Chinese.

It was decided to arrange a motor tour for the visitors to local places of interest and to Foxton and possibly Feilding, while it was further suggested that an inspection of a fiaxmill and a large poultry farm should also be arranged. The trip to I'oxton was fixed for the afternoon of July 29. following the visitors’ attendance at the Citizens’ Luncheon QJub that day, the Mayor of Foxton (Mr J. Chrystall) to be invited to receive and address the party. It. was decided that there be a specially reduced charge for the admission of school children to the match. An endeavour to have the boys at Flock House attend the fixture is to be made.

Mr J. O. Young said that the association should endeavour to have a half holi day declared on the occasion of the match and it was decided that the Mayor should be approached and that- the schools also, should be waited on with a request that scholars who desired to see the game should be allowed to do so. It was decided to pay a deficiency in the expenses of the boys’ team recently. sent to Wellington to play a game there as a curtain-raiser to the match Wellington versus the Chinese. A letter of thanks is to he sent to the Wellington Boys’ Association for the hospitality extended the Manawatu lads and to Mr 11. J. Siinmonds, of Palmerston North, who had acted as manager. It was reported that the plans for the proposed pavilion at North Street Park were not yet ready and it was decided that the subcommittee handling the matter meet at an early date. It was decided that, provided no other fixtures eventuated, the senior competition be continued on Saturday week with a Dawber’s-St. Andrew’s match. R.S.A. Club was granted permission to play a match as soon as possible against either Foxton or Wanganui. On Saturday next those selected to go into training with a view to picking the representative team to meet the Chinese are to play a trial match, with the addition of others to make up two teams.
