Tho engineers, in their report, stated that Nos. 1 and 2 groynes; above Fitzroy bend had been completed and had been raised two feet throughout their length. The pile-driving plant had been moved across the river to the site of the groyne opposite Fitzroy bend and pile driving was in progress. They proposed ordering the ironbark for the groynes on the left bank of tho river opposite Scandia street fund at Mcßae’s bend from Australia. The cost of tho two groynes above Fitzroy lioml was £546. —Adopted. In connection with the engineer’s proposal to order ironbark. it was decided to authorise the spending of £2SC in that direction, the chairman stating that it was most, important to avoid an overdraft. “Wo must, iinish the year without a penny owing,” he said. “The position is this: If wo spond what money wo have, we will simply have to sack everyone.” GENERAL.
