TOKOMARU NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) On Saturday the Tokomaru juniors met the Miranui team, the game resulting in a comfortable win tor Tokomaru by 2G points to 10. In the first spell the red and blacks began with a dash and put on eight points in the first eight minutes. However, mishandling by the backs and much offside play gave Miranui plenty of openings, and at half-time the score was only 10—11. In the second spell the Tokomaru forwards showed up well, while their backs indulged in several pretty passing bouts. Sixteen more points were added to their score. A. Wilton, who was tried out as half-back, showed plenty of pluck, and threw the ball out well, but he would be well advised to watch where he passes and to kick in his own 25. Another feature of the game was the number of penalties given against Tokomaru. Overeagerness might account for this. The eight tries were scored by K. Whyte (4), L. Dalzell, H. Wilton, C. Liggins and L. Simpson. The Druids held their usual fortnightly euchre and dance on Friday night. The enjoyable games resulted in Mrs Woods winning the ladies' prize and Mr Todd the men's. Consolation prizes were presented to Mrs S. B. Parr and Mr T. Dalzell. Dancing followed, the music being provided by Mr and Mrs Rumage. Mr Guy was M.C. Master Jack Kelly, who was injured last week at the local picture theatre, is reported to be progressing favourably.
