COMING ROYAL SHOW. PRIZES IN TROTTING CLASSES. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, June 10. The Royal, Agricultural Soqicty of Now Zealand wrote to the New Zealand Trotting Aspciation to-day, asking what classes for trotters the association would suggest for inclusion in the schedule of the Royal Show, also what donation the association would give towards prizes for trotters. It was decided to recommend that classes be arranged for trotting stallion and mare and pacing stallion and mare. The sum of £IOO was allotted for prize money and it was decided to ask the clubs to assisl the association in making up the amount. HORSE SALE. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their regular Saturday horse sale as follows :—On 7th June we sold on account of Mr A. Mathieson: Draught gelding, £45; mares, £ll, £34 10s, £36, £47 to £49; on Recount of other venders, draughts sold from £25 to £29. Hacks and harness horses were in poor demand, realising from £1 10s to £7 ss. LONDON MARKETS. The Rank of New Zealand have received the following advice from their London office under date 6th June: —Butter: Steady, 66s to 170 s per cwt. Cheese: Steady. Good condition 86s to 87s per cwt; inferior 80s to 84s per cwt. Frozen meat: The market for wethers is unchanged. There is a better demand for ewes. The market is weaker for second quality lambs whils first grades are firm. The market for ox beef has a weakening tendency. The demand for row be"f is poor. Wethers, istht 62<1 to 7Jd per lb. heavy s£d to 6td : ewes 4id to lid. over 42's 9M to 10$d. seconds 9?d to 10id; ox hinds 4id to sd, fores 2Jd to 3d; cow hinds 4d to 4Jd, fores 2i<l to 2Jd. DAIRY SALE. Dalgety and Co.. Ltd.. in conjunction with the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report having held a dairy sale on account of Mr D. G. Forlong. Reed's line, Bunnythorpe, on Tuesday. The herd of 80 cows were chiefly orossbreus and there was good competition throughout the day the vendor expressing his satisfaction with the good results obtained. Quotations: Backward and late calving cows £3 15s, £4. £4 10s. £5. £5 15s to £6: fair cows £6 10s £7. £7 10s to £8 10s; better class cows £9 10s, £lO. £lO 15s. £ll. £ll 5s to £l3 15s. The herd averaged £7 ss.

DAIRYING IN AMERICA. AUSTRALIAN COMMISSIONER'S VIEWS. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) NEW YORK, June 8 Mr D. Mackinnon, Australian 'trade Commissioner, and his secretory, Mr Black have returned from an extensive tour of tho Middle West, especially Minnesota, where they inspected the dairying industry, and will submit a. special report to tho Australian Government. The commissioner concluded that Minnesota which produces dairy produce annually valued at 65,000,000 dollars, is not favoured by such natural conditions as Australia, and Minnesota dairymen were compelled to face high costs, duo to hand-feeding, extensive barn sheltering, high wages, and tile-draining. Mr Mackinnon was impressed by the fine Ilolstein and Guernsey stock, and the excellent cultivation of the soil by Scandinavian immigrants, who wore extensively settled in the State. The commissioner following his return from England, will proceed to California to view a cottonpicking machine.—A. and N.Z. cable. STOCK MARKET. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report having held a clearing sale of dairy cows on account of Mr H. Jensen, Karere. There was a very good attendance and the bidding was good for the best cows, the average for the herd being £8 14s. We quote: Best cows £lO. £ll, £l2, £l2 10s, £l3, £l6 to £l7; cows £3 ss, £4, £5. £7 to £8; springing heifers £5 to £lO 2s 6d; milking plant £74; sundries at late rates. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Coy., Ltd., Palmerston North, report: —At our Himatangi saleyards on Monday we held our usual fortnightly sale. A very moderate entry camo forward to a small attendance of the public. We cleared the yard under the hammer at prices satisfactory to vendors. Small b.f. lambs, 15s 6d; S.M. Ewes R.W.S.D. rams, 22s 4d: fat cows, £3 to £4 ss; forward cows, £2, £2 10s to £2 15s: store cows. 295, 30s, 31s to 365; springing heifers, £7 15s; springing heifers (small), £5 ss; dairy cows, £3 to £4 15s. IMPORTANT TO FARMERS. A reminder is given those wanting good land on easy terms of the sale to be held at Feilding on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., when Abraham and Williams, Ltd., will offer by auction three estates on behalf of Mr William Reid. These properties are all within two miles of Feilding and comprise land suitable for dairying, cropping and sheep farming. The terms are easy and plans with full particulars are obtainable from the auctioneers and inspection can bo arranged through them at any time this week.
