It wa.s at first feared that his coilar-bono had been fractured, but it was later found that the shoulder had evidently slipped its socket returning into position of its own accord. - A fatality, in which a young single man lost li'is life, occurred at Peione on Fridav last. Leslie Hebbend, an employee of the Hutt Power Board, was working on a transmission pole at the corner of Patrick street and JacKson street at Petone, when he slipped and fell from the ladder on which lie was standing, it is estimated that he fell some 14 feet before striking tho footpath. Hebbend was taken to the Wellington hospital soon afterwards, and it was found' that he was in a critical condition, suffering from a fractured skull. At 7.35 o'clock that evening he passed away. Per Press Association. WAIMATE, June 6. Severe burns were suffered by J. Kippenberger, son of Mr K. Kippenberger, of Studliolme, this morning. Kippenberger was working at a tractor and by some means his clothing became saturated with fuel and igidtcd, all his clothes being burnt off. When assistance arrived his legs and arms were severely burned. Unfortunately, the local doctors were engaged in a serious operation, but the St. John Ambulance superintendent and a lady doctor dressed the burns and took the sufferer to the hospital.
