WILLARD HOME.

ANNUAL REPORT. The report of the Willard Home Board, to be prefented at the annual meeting tomorrow, states that the past year has been most successful financially, a further grant of £IOO being received from the T. G. MacCarthy Trust, and a bequest of £248 from the late Mrs Caroline Cleary, of Feilding. "Annual subscribers have responded liberally," states the report, "and to those wlio donated money and clothing the committee tenders its warmest thanks. As in the past the W.C.T.U. branches have supported the institution. The annual jumble sales have been held under the supervision of Mrs E. C. Barnett, to whom, and to Mesdames J. G. Collins and K. McDonald and their assistants, for their untiring efforts in regard to the relief room, thanks are due. Nineteen children are now in the home, seven of that number being entirely dependent on it for support. During the year six children were discharged, three being committed 10 the State and three returned to parents, as other cases of a more necessitous nature claimed the attention of the board. Several temporary cases were dealt with, the children receiving every care and attention while their mothers were ill. More and better accommodation is urgently needed, and this matter is now under review by the advisory board and the board of management. During the summer the children wore sent to Foxton beach for a month, and thanks vo due to Foxton residents for gifts of food and for providing entertainment. Special thanks are due to Mr E. R. B. Holben for supplies of coal and meat. Our excellent staff is still with us and the board is deeply grateful to Miss E. Anderson, the matron, and to Miss S. Pearce, her assistant, for their whole-hearted service. Thanks are due to Mr J. Hall for many kindnesses shown and services rendered. Through the kindness of the public generally and business men our children had many pleasant outings. To the Mavor and Mayoress (Mr and Mrs F. J. Nathan), Mrs M. Cohen, Mrs G. H. Bennett, and the Levin W.C.T.U. we tender grateful thanks for supplies of Christmas cheer to the children. The N.Z.I. Co., which donated spades and buckets, and Mr Berryman, who gave gramaphone records, and all others who assisted, are also extended thanks. Other gifts have been received and acknowledged through the press, to which the committee also expresses its gratitude. In conclusion, the report thanks the following for their gratuitous services: Doctors Barnett and Hooper, Miss M. Randall, Messrs H. Wilson, Innes and Oakley, M. H. Oram, J. A. McLeavey, / J. Balsillie, J. H. Stevens, E. F. Thwaites and J. Oliver. The termination of the report takes the form of an appeal for support and help in the ensuing year.
