TRESPASS ON RACECOURSE.
MAN FINED £5. At the Magistrate's Court this morning a young married man named James Donaldson appeared on remand before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., charged that, on December 31, 1923, at Alexandra Park, Auckland, he did trespass on the Alexandra Park racecourse. Senior-Sergeant O'Grady appeared for the police, accused, who pleaded guilty, not being represented by counsel. Detective Holmes stated that accused had been convicted of false pretences, and had in consequence been prohibited from going on .to racecourses. He had been warned on several occasions, but had not previously been convicted of this offence.
Accused: "I thought I was allowed on when my terms of two years' probation had expired." The Senior-Sergeant: "He has not kep't up full payments under the terms of the order and a prosecution in consequence is being considered." His Worship: "He may have Boon under some misapprehension. He will be fined £5 with costs 7s, in default one month's imprisonment. Accused asked for time to pay, but the request was refused, the SeniorSergeant remarking: "His wife has been looking for him for some time. He is an undesirable character) moving from place to place."
