MELBOURNE SENSATION.
SEARCH FOR THE SUSPECT. MELBOURNE, Jan. 30. A number of remarkable letters written by List, the man suspected in connection with the gardens murder, at various times have come into the pos-'-ssion of the police, who, believing they will throw considerable light on ills mental condition, are submitting them for examination to an alienist. Though the police have tracked up numbers of supposed clues, and the keenest watch has been kept everywhere, there has been no trace of List. Special watch is being kept on the Yarra in view of the fact that if the man has drowned himself the body would float after a given time.—Press Association.
