BRUTAL CRIME.
YOUNG GIRL MURDERED. TRAGEDY NEAR GISBORNE. BODY FOUND UNDER TREES. (Per Press Association.) GISBORNE, Jah. 29. A brulil crime was reported to the police this morning, a girl named Gwen Murray, aged 14, having been outraged and murdered. The girl was sent last night to collect the mail at Makaraka. She called at a grocery storo and left for homo about 8 o’clock, this being the last occasion on which she was seen alive. The girl did not arrive home and the sexton of the Makaraka Cemtery discovered the child’s body under somo trees m the vicinity of the cemetery. To all appearances she had been, brutally done to The police were communicafed with, and, proceeding to the scene of the crime they found the body as described. To all appearances the girl had been outraged and done to death.
