RAILWAY STRIKE OVER. RESULT OF LONG CONFERENCE. * LONDON, Jan. 29. The conference of ra.ilsvay managers began at the Euston Hotel at four o’clock on Monday afternoon, and continued at length, Avith the intervention of the Trades’ Union Congress mediators, follOAving by the summoning of the locomotive men’s representatives at nino o’clock. The conference lasted until 4.30 a.m.

The national delegates’ conference of the Transport Workers’ Union held in London to-day decided to instruct its members to strike on February 16 in all ports of Groat Britain unless in the meantime a satisfactory settlement oi the wages' dispute is reached. The dockers demand an increase of 2s per day Avith a guaranteed week’s work or pay in order to meet the problem of casual labour. The employers say that they cannot afiord to pay the increase demanded, which would cost £2,0011,000 per annum. They show that there is depression in the shipping industry. —Reuter.
