REPRESENTATIVE HOCKEY.
TRIAL MATCH
A hockey match was played yesterday afternoon "on the Sportsground between teams chosen from the pick of Manawatu’s pluvers, with the object of enabling the selectors to make a final selection for next Wednesday’s shield match. The game was fast and fairly interesting from the initial bully to the final whistle, superior combination and ability , eventually giving a win to the A’s by 13 goals to 2. _ The winners were not long in opening their scoring account, Hostick netting after one minute’s play. At half-time three further goals, per medium of V. Kyle, G. Fitt and Hostick, had been added to A’s score, while the B’s had not netted. The latter team opened the second spell w’th several flashes _of combined work, and Tucker and Giles netted in quick succession. Thereafter the A’s had matters all their own way, their forward line combining brilliantly on occasions. Further goals were registered by Hostick (2), Q. Fitt (4), J. Fitt (2), and V. Kvle, Mr Davies had charge of the game.
