FIRE BRIGADES.
CONFERENCE AT DUNEDIN. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, March 1. The 44th annual meeting of the United Fire Brigades Association opened this morning, Captain Lucas presiding. The delegates were welcomed by the deputymayor, who referred to the allegedly unfair way the boards were treated by the Government. He congratulated the association on establishing an accident insurance' fund. The annual report showed the credit balance to be £35. There are 126 brigades affiliated to the association. The Hon. W. Downio Stewart meets the delegates in conference to-morrow.
