FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

LOYAL MANAWATU LODGE.

There was an attendance of 30 members at the half-yearly meeting of tho Loyal Mnnawatu Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0.F. r on Thursday evening, presided over by N.G. Bro. G. W. Kerr. One candidate was proposed for membership. P.P.G.M. Bro. W. B. Duthie and J. J v Gillie, of the Loyal Bunnythorpo Lodge, were unanimously elected members o! the lodge; and it was decided to give effect to (lie actuary’s recommendation in reference to a reduction of contributions to which they were entitled. Bro. J. Heniiag*an, financial secretary of tho Loyal Kifnbolton Lodge, was welcomed by V.G. Bro. 'L. Clark and duly responded to same. An invitation was received from the Loyal Dannevirke Lodge to a special meeting this evening, and several members notified their intention of attending same. Several recommendations from the Loyal Tararua Past Grands’ Lodge were approved of. Bro, IT, Shartnan having won the trophy tor the introduction of the most members during the past half-year, re-donated same for the ensuing six mouths, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Tho election of officers {or the ensuing six months resulted as follows: 1.P.N.G., Bro. G. W. Kerr; N. Bro. T. Clark; R.S., Bro. J. Fabrin; LB., Bro. R. f. Webb; U.G., Bro. O. J. Rodgers; R.S., Bro. C. V. Christiansen; L.S., Bro. B. llcffrnan; E.S., Bro. L. A. Sluirman; W.. Bro. J.. \\. Rees; LG.. Bro. •V. Dawson; O.G-, P.G. Bro. J. L. Walton; S.R.S., Bro. R. C, Webb, The newlyelected officers wore installed into their respective chairs by P.G. Bro. J, L. W alton, assisted by P.G. Bro. F. G. Milne, P.G. Bro. J. Brackenridgo and P.P.G.M. Bro. W. B. Duthie. The officers returned thanks for their election. A degree lecture was hold by L.M. Bro. R. S. W atson, P.G., when two members wore advanced to their respective degrees. It was decided to place P.G. Bro. J. L. Walton’s name on tho merit board, and to present him with a P.G.’s collar; also to present V.G. Bro. O. J. Rodgers with a framed member’s emblem. The certificates were framed enabling tho retiring officers to take their respective degrees.
