A THIRD ATTEMPT.

FARMERS’ UNION MEETING LAPSES

The adjourned animal meeting of the Palmerston North branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ l.nion, which was convened I for to-day, lapsed for want of a quorum, j Air 11. Vile, who was one of the three memi hers present, staled in the course of an j informal discussion that this was the third ' unsuccessful attempt to hold the fixture. I If the farmers could not come to the inerting the only thing left was to “smash up i the branch.” The secretary, Mr G. \Y. Moon, wrote 1 tendering his resignation. He also put in I an audited statement of accounts, disclosing a cash balance of £5 3s 9d. At the request | of those present, Mr .Moon, who slated that : ho wished to ho relieved of his duties at 1 the earliest possible moment, agreed to act j until the branch succeeded in holding a j formal meeting.
