DESTRUCTION OF RATS.
LOCAL BODY FINED. SYDNEY, Juno 9. In ilie rat destruction campaign many suburban councils are heartily co-operating with the health authorities in the destruction of the pest. The Lklcombe Council failed to respond, with the result that it was lined the maximum amount for allowing the Town Hall to remain infested with rats. The magistrate declared that it was most shocking- that those entrusted with safeguarding the public health should bo guilty of such neglect of duty.—Press Association.
