The Australian Davis Cup team played an exhibition match to-day in dull, drizzly weather, Patterson and Wertheini beating Anderson and Wood, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4, 6-4. The players were never fully extended. Patterson was easily the most effective and consistent of the four, his service being practically unreUirnuble. Anderson has not. reached top form. Wertheini was the most irregular of the four, but played his best game since, his arrival, including a number of brilliant hnlf-volloys. Charley Pitts and Shainus O’Brien, of New York, fought 12 rounds to a draw. Pitts was tlte better boxer, and O'Brien was the cleverer infighter.—A. and N.Z, cable. ROBINSON DEFEATS CANN, (Per Press Association.) GISBORNE, June 8. In a professional feather-weight match Lin Robinson (Gisborne) defeated Charley Cann (Wanganui) on points.
