FORTHCOMING MUSICAL FESTIVAL.

ITS SUCCESS ASSURED. Intending competitors are reminded that entries for the Alanawutu competitions will close on Monday next. It is anticipated that there will be good entries for all sections, as liberal prize money is being offered and the society is sparing no effort to make the competitions a success. _ This is the society’s initial effort, and it is therefore to be hoped that the festival will receive the targe measure of public support to which it is justly, entitled. The programme is divided into four sections elocution, speeches, music (instrumental and vocal) and dancing. Realising _ that much of the success of the undertaking depends on the standard of judging, the society has secured the services of the leading judges in their line in the Dominion. Mr Robert, Parker, of Wellington, will take the vocal and instrumental classes, Mr A. Stanley Warick, the elocution, while the dancing classes will be in the equally capable hands of Miss Cecil G. Hall, of Auckland. The society is to be congratulated on the thoroughness of its arrangements, the attractiveness of its programme, and its enterprise in promoting the festival.
