RAILWAY DEVIATION.
LOCATION OF NEW STATION
MAYOR DENIES STATEMENT
The Mayor was interviewed _by a “Standard” reporter this morning, in reference to a published report that the new railway station was to be erected at ferrate End. He stated be must have, been misunderstood. He had no knowledge of any alteration of the decision of the Railway Department to place the new railway station on Boundary road. What he referred to was the efforts of the Borough Council to have the gasworks and powerstation erected at the proposed Terrace End
site. This proposal, however, had not, as he had previously intimated, appealed to the railway authorities, and the council hoped to have a further interview with the departmental officials, when it is trusted that a final decision would be arrived at with regard to the site.
