At the Wanganui Jockey Chib’s winter meeting lire totalisator handled £27,326, against £42,009 on the first day last year. Additional results:
Century Hurdles.—Poanui (M. D. O'Shea) 1, Spook 2, Alteration 3. Also started; Explorer, Gladful, Gamecock, Whauoko, Kyoto. Poanui wont to the front at the half-mile, and beat Spook by four lengths. Alteration was two lengths away. Time, 4.21 3-5. Kyoto fell.
Connolly Handicap.—Printemps (H. G. Butler) 1. Afarqiictcur 2, lionet ter 3. Also started: Tame Fox, Punka, Correspondent, Mangamahoe, Scion, Sunny Corner, Cleasanta, Stork, Erie. Won by a short head, with two lengths between second and third. Time, 2.14 2-5. Puma. Hack Handicap.—Mort. Avis (11. Goldfinch) 1, 'Merry Queen 2, Gold Star 3. Also started: Crossfire, Left, All Cerise, Marble Cratr Lady Nassau, Birkenella, MarInlla, TV Kuri,' Skylight, Mollecn Oge, Yankee Dan, Manchester, Fiddlestrmgs, Sweet Song, Santiago, Merry Ann, Patrogun. Won by ihreo-cpiarterH of a length, with the same distance between second and third. Time, 1.54 3-5.
