Mr McMahon, president of the Employers’ Federation, has offered as a solution of the unemployment of returned soldiers the suggestion that every employer should take back into his service the returned men who were with them before the war.—Press Association.
GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE.

SYDNEY, May 19
The Premier lias acceded to a request by a deputation of suburban Mayors and presidents of Shire Councils that the Government subsidise by loan on Cl for £1 basis the sum of £154,000 which the local authorities have intimated they were prepared to spend in providing work for returned soldiers.
A demonstration of unemployed is being held on Friday, demanding that the Government shall pay the _ living wage or a subsistence wage until they find work.—Press Association.
