GENOA CONFERENCE.

HAGUE MEETING AGREED TO.

GENOA, May 17,

The sub-commission adopted the proposal that tho next conference meet at The Hague. The Dutch representative undertook lo afford the Soviet all facilities. It was decided that the truce remain in force for four months after Tho Hague meeting.

The final plenary session will be held on Friday morning, after which tho Empire delegates will return to London,—A. and N.Z. cable.

VISCOUNT GREY'S CRITICISM.

Viscount Grey, in a letter to the National Liberal Federation, said the Genoa Conference provided an example of what should be avoided lo secure the end desired. A close understanding with France ami cooperation of the United States were desirable. Siipporers of, the Prime Minister acclaimed tlie Genoa Conference to his political credit and thus created tho impression that it was in some way .connected with domestic politics, The chances of success were thus impaired. France was filled with distract and the United Stales refused to participate, and the Genoa Conference became' a sort of international gamble. Close understanding with France and the-good-will of tho United States was tho only sound foundation for economic and financial reconstruction.
