The Wanganui Jockey Club's winter meeting opened to-day in dull and threatening weather. .The track is in fairly good order. Results:— Borough Handicap, (3 furlongs Kinsem 9.0 1, Rational 10.4 2, Orchid (3.10 3. All started. Won by two lengths, two and a half lengths between second and third. Time 1.15 3-5. Comic and Blackmail fell.

Hack Steeples, about 2 miles.—Oak Rose 9.0 1, Ngakanui 11.3 2, Master Boris 10.9 3. Scratched: General Raven, Kato,-Wftr Loan and Lady Lyddite. Won by three lengths, two lengths separating second and third. Tune, 4.4 2-5.
