DEATH OF A FARMHAND

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 13

A single man named Thomas Smith.. aged 64 years, residing at Taita. received injuries last night which resulted fatally. About 6.15 p.m. lie went into the yard of a farmhouse where he was employed, .stumbled over a farm cultivator, and was severely injured in ;lm throat, lie died before tile hospital was reached. LADY SEVERELY BURNED. A. very painful accident befell Miss Alma Clausen, daughter of Air J. F. Clausen, of Foxton line, last evening. While investigating a delect in the generator of an acetylene gas plant that was tised for the purpose of lighting the house, an explosion occurred, severely burning Miss Clausen about the hands and face. Exactly how serious the injuries are is not its yet known, but it is hoped that her eyesight will not be affected.
