The Journal says:—"The hope thai; Franco and England would find themselves united to demand the debts due to them must be abandoned." The Figaro declares that ''normal diplomacy is giving; place to a system, by which a number of politicians meet at some pleasure resort and talk to one another through interpreters. Draft edicts are drawn up after confused discussions, disposing of the lives of the people. As the Allies are never to have recourse, to force, we must wait until Germany, who has no scruples on this score, gets into a position when she has the recourse. We shall not have long lo wait." The Eclair asserts that "Mr Lloyd George is no longer opposed to the entry, lie had even become Germany's impassioned advocate. Franco-British conferences are sheer hypocrisy." The Petit Journal, on the other hand, says: -"Prance's reparation rights have been recognised by Britain in a definite and satisfactory manner."—A. and N.Z. cable.
