METHODIST CHURCH.
BROAD STREET CIRCUIT. The quarterly meeting of the above was held last evening ■ iii St. Paul's vestry, 28 representatives being present. Rev. 0. S. Cook presided: ■ - A hearty welcome was extended to Mr& Pacey, Mrs Burd and Miss iLevy, new members of the quarterly board. The Church anniversary will ,be held on the first Sunday. in June. The balance-sheet-showed the circuit finances to be in a- very satisfactory ' state. The chairman reported that Mr Ashmore had been- appointed ■■minister at- Ashhurst and Pohangina in place of Rev. Gatman. The action of the "./Deaconess Committee ■in the appointment of Sister May Ralph was endorsed. Sister May was presdnt, and received a very..'hearty welcome. The sister comes to Palmerston North after many years' work in London mission work, and is an acquisition to this Church and to the town. .. - In connection with the centenary commemorations, Revs,- C, il. Olds, W. A. Sinclair and A., C. Lawry will visit Palmerston North during this quarter. In this connection a- committee was appointed, consisting of Messrs Pacey. Stiles, McLeavey, Print, Mrs' Burd. Miss Levy and circuit stewards. • t:
In the absence of the Sunday -school superintendent (Mr Spooner) through illness, Mr East- reported satisfactory progress and increased attendance. Rev. Cook, Mrs Pacey and M l '-Print- gave a report of the recent, conference and a vote of- thanks was passed to the several representatives,
A motion i of' condolence was passed io Mr D. C. Hiskins and family, of Auckland; Mr Hiskins being a former member of St. Paul's, in the- loss of Mrs Hiskens. , A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Tregurtha (choirmaster) and choir for the valuable services which, they render to the Church, A vote of thanks was also passed to the ladies"; guild for magnificent service* in raising fun.'is. for various' departments of the Church during the year. The secretary was instructed to forward a letter of appreciation to Rev. W. Gatman lor his past services land a wish that God's richest blessing may .rest on him in his new circuit. Th e nent meeting is to be held on Wednesday, July 6.' ■The meeting then closed, and a dainty supper was provided by the ladies.
