ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

A man named W. Badiko, employed by the Westport ‘ Coal Company at Mangatina, died suddenly last week. Deceased went to work on Monday morning as usual, but collapsed in the mine. Ilis mates took him to the boardinghouse, where he received every attention, but he never regained consciousness. Deceased was a native of Russia, 38 years of age, and leaves a widow and three children, who are living in Bessarabia. The 16-months-old daughter of Mr F. Williams, Mayor of Brunner, met with a very painful accident last week. She was playing about- with Her brother, who is four years - of age, when by some means or other she pulled over herself a jug of hot wafer. The child was scalded on the chin, throat, chest and arms. She is reported to he doing as well as can ho expected.
