MEN FORTY-FIVE INCHES HIGH.
' LONDON, Dec. 27. ' , Mr Sydney Fairbairn, a .menibcr'of iho Traveller's' Club, s has returned from .an arduous journey in. Central Africa through 'Congo and Uganda.'■:. After much searching he found Pigmy 'Land, aycrago height'of tho pigmies-is forty-five inches, and their houses are -fifty-two inches high. Ho entered their houses . by. crawling. The pigmies are much . fairer-and lighter ~ coloured than the average'tribes...The men were beautifully made, and the v women massive; with tiny feet f and ■gnomc-liko faccs.'. At'the outset they were scared, .cs : pecially by' the camera. Later they danced all night long the, log fire dances. Mr Fairbairn travelled hundreds-of. miles, guided by'savages with a system of signalling by tom-toms sending elaborate mes--sages. by their beating.—('A. and .
