The Minors' Conference passed a, resolution advising the delegates to the forthcoming Trades Congress that, unless tho Government withdraws tho troops from Irehind iind ceases the production of munitions for Russia und Ireland, a general order to "down tools" bo recommended, with ballots wherever necessary. The conference also passed a resolution refusing fo operate the mines if the .Mines' Bill is passed, and urging tho Labour Party to vigorously oppose the measure.—(A. and X.Z. cable). LOCK-OUTS IN U.S. Received Julv 10, 9.30 a.m. WASHINGTON, July 8. Tho Department of Labour announces that there wore- 3374 lockouts in the United Suites in 1919, affecting more than 4,000,0C0 workers.—(A. and N.Z. cable). COAL INDUSTRY IN AUSTRALIA. MELBOURNE, July 9. In the Federal House Mr Lammond moved the adjournment in order to discuss the tmre:t in the coal industry. Considerable heckling followed, the Opposition accusing the Government of being afraid to stand up to the unusual motion. Mr [litalics, after referring to the delays in tho Arbitration Court, said he intended to establish a tribunal to doil with the dispute. The tribunal would consist of an equal unmber of employers and employees.— (Press Association).'
