BLOW TO FRENCH'TRADE.
NULLIFIES HOPES OP PAU’S MISSION.
LONDON. July 7. General Pan and the other members of tho French Mission, which visited Australasia, were entertained by Mr Theodore, Premier of Queensland, on Tuesday, m Paris. They expressed deep regret, at the recent tariff changes, particfclnrly the provision whereby Customs werfe chargeable at the pre-war rate of cxchnugfe. Mr Theodore lias received const ant protests on the subject from 'manufacturers, all of whom declared’ the regulation nullifies the hopes that General Pan’s mission will result in an increase in French-Austra-lian trade.—(A. and N.Z cable).
